Step one: Take your measurements

  1. First of all, it’s time to measure the width of the base of your bed, from one end to the other. Do not measure the mattress, as this can vary for standard bed sizes and it’s important that the headboard aligns with the frame.
  2. Now measure the height of your existing bed frame, and add either 70cm or 100cm to test either height of the bed frame.

Step two: Choose your desired size

HEADBOARD WIDTH

Our made to measure headboards are available in four different widths, so it’s important to choose the one that is the closest width to your bed frame.

Our standard measurements are:

Metres Feet Inches
0.90m 3' 36"
1.35m 4'6" 54"
1.50m 5' 60"
1.80m 6' 72"

HEADBOARD HEIGHT

After you’ve chosen the width for your headboard, it’s time to choose between our two heights. With upholstered headboards, the height is ultimately a personal choice, as it depends on how you’d like the piece to sit within your space.

Don’t forget to account for the 10cm of your headboard height that will be hidden below the top of the mattress, as this will change the final height of your headboard when it’s fixed in place.

Our made to measure headboards come in two standard heights:

  • 70cm (28”) (60cm visible)
  • 100cm (39”) (90cm visible)

Step three: Choose your style of headboard

The final decorative step is selecting which style of headboard you would like to order. Each of these elegant options will showcase our heritage patterns, it’s simply down to personal preference which style to opt for in your interiors.

Our made to measure headboards are available in four styles:

  • Plain piped
  • Plain curved
  • Plain bordered
  • Shallow buttoned

Step five: Fix your headboard to the wall or your bed

Once your headboard has arrived, it’s time to fix it in place and display this statement piece. Our made to measure headboards can either be mounted to the bed or secured to the wall, and we will supply the right fixtures for your chosen option.

WALL MOUNTED

For larger headboards (and 100cm height), we would always recommend mounting them to the wall so they are safe and secure. Your headboard will be supplied with a batten fixed to the back of it, to fasten it to the wall.

BED MOUNTED

If you choose for your upholstered headboard to be mounted to the bed, it will be fixed with struts for attaching it to the bed base. Struts will safely hold your headboard in place, but they can be unstable for larger headboards.
