Our Impact

Sustainability is at the heart of what we do at Morris & Co.

As custodians of a historic design legacy, it’s vital that our hand-crafted products continue to be manufactured with minimal impact on the environment to uphold the ethos of the planet-conscious company that William Morris founded.

Our Commitment

Since 1861, Morris & Co. has been mindful of its impact on the natural world - a major source of inspiration to our founder. For 160 years, the company has championed home-grown talent in the UK and been committed to using the resources, craftsmanship and materials available locally to us.

William Morris was a pioneer in environmental activism, a legacy that Morris & Co. are dedicated to honouring through innovation. This commitment extends beyond our factories to our offices’ green initiatives, all of which is a culmination of our work with Planet Mark to become net zero by 2030.

Our Craftsmanship

Morris & Co. would be nothing without its creatives. United under the ambition to champion handcrafted designs, made in Britain, our team respects the responsibility that comes with being the custodians of Morris’ legacy.

We ensure that our products crafted in the UK within our own factories uphold the standard that is synonymous with Morris & Co. As a company, we continue to pioneer ways to stay environmentally-conscious across all elements of our production from design to delivery.

Design & Materials

At the forefront of our initiatives is charting the life cycle of our products to ensure that these high-quality investments are made to last. Morris & Co. strives to improve our impact on the environment, all while preserving and uplifting the heritage of our brand by sourcing our materials predominantly from the UK to reduce our carbon footprint.

Our Production

All wallpaper and printed fabric at Morris & Co. is manufactured in the UK from our wallpaper printing factory, Anstey Wallpaper Factory, in Loughborough, and our fabric factory at Standfast & Barracks, Lancaster. Anstey carries FSC certification, ensuring that our production process maintains the ethos and values of Morris & Co.

Packaging & Delivery

It’s important that in-transit our packaging and delivery methods reflect our commitment to reducing our carbon footprint. Over the years, Morris & Co. has worked tirelessly to uphold this value and meet nine of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.

Our Partnerships

Our Partners align with our values at Morris & Co., in their dedication to craftsmanship and commitment to the environment. As a collective, we strive to create a positive impact on the environment to ensure our licensed products represent the quality and values of Morris & Co.’s products.

In the past, Morris & Co. has worked collaboratively to reduce our in-house waste, such as curating a line of heritage robes for Harrods with Path to Paisley, created from fabric off-cuts from our factory. It’s innovative partnerships such as these, that uphold the integrity of Morris & Co.’s company-long activism to preserve and protect the environment.
